Ranking Senna's F1 cars - can we try the same?

#1

Post by PTRACER »

Autosport often do these videos where they take a bunch of cars driven by a particular driver and rank them from best to worst during a short debate. The guy on the right acts as a moderator and can make the final decisions based on whether he agrees with the other two.

I was wondering whether anyone here would be interested in doing the same?

I have three ideas on how to do such a thing:

1. Set a time for the discussion and use the mChat box we normally use for streams. Once we have decided the final ranking, we'll post it in the final thread and open up the discussion to those who want to comment on it later.
2. I'll stream my desktop and we can use a private YouTube stream instead, so I'd be able to visually drag pictures of the cars around as we change the order.
3. Do it all in a thread over a period of hours/days.

Will tag a few names since people may miss this thread:

Neat idea and can be used for a variety of topics. I suggest using a thread for it, there's no way I'll be able to hold a set time.

I'm game.

I've seen them ranking only Schumachers F1 cars, didn't know that was a series.

What cars are in consideration for this, TG184 to FW14?

This is only the second video I've seen, but I thought we should use the idea.

Every car Senna drove is under consideration. I didn't know but he raced the TG183 too. They also considered his FW16 to be different to the one which Hill almost won the championship in, since Williams introduced a major upgrade at the French GP which essentially made it an FW16B.

I meant FW16, I keep loosing Williamses past the FW11. As for the FW16B, Senna never drove the B spec car, so the list ends with the FW16 imo

Exactly. And Autosport put it pretty low in their list. But wasn't Senna leading in both Brazil and Imola with the A-spec car?

The car was fast no question about that, 3 poles by a margin against the B194 says it all. Narrow design envelope though and that is where it falls down the order. There are no points for pole and if the throws the driver off the track after half a GP it's not going to win any championships. Come to think of it the FW16 should be somewhere around the 98T.

Newey said that the rear of the FW16 was the problem. As the season progressed, they solved that problem.

This was my question, but only John has answered this so far.

So, I'll repeat:-

- Does anyone want to do this in Chat, or would everyone rather do this within a thread?

A thread would be better, given time zone differences and people's life commitments.

No, lets not do it in chat. Threads keep much better, think of the cyberarchaeologists.
