I have clothes in my wardrobe older than Lance Stroll
@Everso Biggyballies I do recall that about Lewis Hamilton and his private jet. He's just one of many who do things like that and then has the nerve to tell us all to do our bit for the environment and so on as well as cheating the tax system. Yet we're supposed to respect these people who do all they can to avoid paying what they should.

This is Betfair exchange, so who will win is beside the point
I will explain, I shouldn't assume people know. So I backed hammy at 150 (and other prices) then I can sell the bet back at a much lower price. Rather like trading shares. I've got around 10k profit on hammy to win, so if he reached 10/1 I could make £1000 either way. Doesn't matter who wins.
I've made a guaranteed win position by backing Max for the title, so that's my insurance if Hammy loses and the above prices don't happen

Anyone notice the "F1: Powered by hybrid since 2014" branding at the bottom of the screen?

Its frightening really isnt it..... and he had a clean year on year from F4 to F2 with no double dipping in any series other that a bit of Renault. (He didn't do too well first year in Renault, finishing 8th.... 2nd year he won)MonteCristo wrote: ↑2 years ago How much money it takes to ... not make it to F1 yet.

So total 6.5 mill..... plus the unquantifiable cost of family disruption.
A couple of lines from that article say a bit.....
Piastri’s senior, who runs a successful car software development company, was with him at every stage.
...... without his seedcorn spending, Oscar wouldn’t have been able to get out of the pit lane in his first kart competition.
“People think top drivers will get there because Dad has a big checkbook, but it’s not. Money is important, but they need extraordinary talent, dedication, and dedication.” Chris (Father) says.

Alonso running in the 24hour Kart race at Dubai this weekend with his own team
You would think the drivers would be looking for a break after a pretty intense few weeks run in to last weekend. Not for Fernando who still needs his fix. Alonso and his MD Racing Team will be racing around the Dubai Kartdrome, preparing to participate in one of karting’s most famous annual endurance races, now in its second decade of running.
Alonso is no stranger to Dubai and the Kartdrome for that matter, nor the 24 Hours race. He first entered a team in 2014 which included former F1 drivers Pedro de la Rosa and Stoffel Vandoorne. Since then he has become a popular visitor to the UAE’s karting complex whenever he is in town. I think he snagged a podium at the event in 2019.
Nando has his mate Pedro de la Rosa in the team, as well young up-and-coming karter Nikola Tsolov in the team and his childhood buddy and former F3000 racer Angel Burgueño.
Its on this weekend, 17-18 December
Onya Nando and good luck!

Has Pedro De La Rosa got a 700 page dossier on the other teams karts? I'm sure Fernando knows nothing about it.

Max Verstappen has topped the annual team principals’ top 10 drivers ranking – knocking Lewis Hamilton off the top spot.

https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/verst ... 1/6886514/The two drivers have dominated the rankings over recent years, finishing as the top two every year since 2016. But this is the first time that Verstappen has emerged ahead.
In what has become a long-standing tradition created by Autosport, each of the F1 team bosses were asked to pick their top 10 drivers of the year.
The individual results are kept secret – so the team principals can answer honestly – and the tally totted up using F1’s point structure that runs from 25 points for first down to 1 point for 10th.
For the first time since he entered F1 in 2015, 2021 world champion Verstappen came out on top – earning 188 points compared to Hamilton’s 174.
Lando Norris moved up to third overall off the back of a hugely impressive season with McLaren, which included him taking his maiden pole position at the Russian Grand Prix.
He was the highest climber in the top 10, along with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr, both gaining four spots on their 2020 positions, while the returning Fernando Alonso was fifth.
Despite their wins in the Azerbaijan and Italian GPs respectively, Sergio Perez (fifth in 2020) and Daniel Ricciardo (fourth) have fallen outside the top 10.
The nine team principals who took part were Toto Wolff (Mercedes), Christian Horner (Red Bull), Andreas Seidl (McLaren), Laurent Rossi (Alpine), Otmar Szafnauer (Aston Martin), Fred Vasseur (Alfa Romeo), Franz Tost (AlphaTauri), Jost Capito (Williams) and Gunther Steiner (Haas). The only team that did not take part was Ferrari.
