SCHUMACHER
It's the title of a new film being released this year, featuring interviews with his family and close associates, along with "never seen before" archive footage: https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/14337 ... -this-year
Naturally I don't expect it to feature any current info on Schumacher.
I think if the opening scene was the silhouette of a wheelchair set in front of a large glass window and machines sucking and blowing and things going up and down, I'd feel pretty uncomfortable. I'm happy with not knowing the ins and outs of his situation.
(Sorry, that sounded a little more sexual than planned)

Funny, they want privacy and go to extreme lengths to keep details of his "condition" secret, then just as everybody is starting to accept and move on (aka forget) they thrust him back into the limelight with a Senna style documentary about the guy - if you want privacy don't do things that will attract attention, it's not rocket science.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.

Maybe they need the money? Maybe they need extra family publicity to get someone promoted to somewhere they don't deserve to be. Maybe I'm being too cynical.kals wrote: ↑5 years agoMaybe they need the money? Makes me think maybe Michael is conscious and aware. But does not want to be remembered as an crippled shell of his former self so he won't appear in public. Therefore, approves the documentary to help build up the hype around his son.
It would be hard to imagine getting the rights to his private behind the scene moments if they were really looking for privacy.
Just as @MonteCristo is suggesting.

It surprises me how little Schumacher is used as a reference. At least our commentators hardly refer to him in terms of records.
His failed comeback didn't do his reputation well.

I think it's also because of his on track antics. Yes, he achieved a lot but hardly anyone would say he was a gentleman racer, unlike ie. Jim Clark was.

“The greatest challenge for the directors was certainly to find the balance between independent reporting and consideration for the family,” said Nöcker. “Corinna Schumacher herself was our greatest support in this.
“She herself wanted to make an authentic film, to show Michael as he is, with all his ups and downs, without any sugarcoating. She was great and brave enough to let us do what we wanted, and so we respected and kept her boundaries. A very inspiring, warm woman who made a lasting impression on all of us.”

It's going to be interesting for sure. I am to be honest expecting a film in the same vein as Senna with some added pieces of people talking about him. Re the point made above that Schumacher isn't used as a reference, at least Brundle does look up to him. It's more the fact that Lewis is so dominant nowadays that the UK television find it convenient to draw comparisons against him instead.

I thought there were reports last year that this would finally show MS and his current condition?
