*Copied from the old thread that I thought was the new thread.

Im tempted to say Russell on the hope he will be driving again this weekend. I would love to see him, after making Bottas look a fool, to meet Max and CLAP to give some opposition in a 'proper' race.
Shame for Lewis if that happens as it will no doubt amplify the case of those who say its the car not him so much.

If not Russell then Norris. Next year he will have Mercedes power. Could be Sainz if Ferrari can loophole their way into a completely fresh engine as they seem to think they can.

If it is Stroll I give up with F1.

I feel like this should have been opened after Lewis is confirmed tomorrow.

There. I fixed it for you. I have a feeling he will not be in the car this weekend. Too many hurdles.

I dont think he can even leave Bahrain until Friday because of the 10 day isolation, regardless of what test he might provide. If of course he tests positive he has not got a hope because I think they have to have 24hours between tests, unless they can do a couple each day to allow for possible false positives.

Does Lewis not realise people dontwant him in they want to see George back in the car. Or is he getting psyched out by the fact a near rookie has stepped into his car and done a Lewis, obliterated Bottas and to be honest made a better job of handling traffic than Lewis did at Monza! Maybe Lewis wage demands look a bit over the top.

And dont tell me had Lewis been therethe pit stuff up would not have happened.

Would you believe we've only had 18 winners in the last 17 years, so one new winner a year average, but it's actually happened twice in that time?

Numbers 92 and 93, Raikkonen in Malaysia followed by Fisichella in Brazil. (As we know, for a week or so it was Raikkonen as a back to back winer!)

Numbers 96 and 97, Button in Hungary followed by Massa in Turkey.

I've also just noticed - every time we've had back-to-back new winners since 2000, one of those winners has been a future world champion (Raikkonen and Button).

So, Perez, Bottas or Russell to be WDC?

I think we can safely leave Bottas out of the equation. If it aint happened yet it's not gonna happen.

I'm sure we said this about the winless Irvine before the 1999 season.
