It seems like every photo in this entry is dead

The files might be quite large so they take some time to load. It should work properly.

New Field (For admin use only)
"Venue Type". By default, it is set to 'Circuit'. If you add a new venue and it is a city/place name and not a circuit, or the name of a stage (either rally, or city-to-city), then please select the appropriate item.

We have 733 venues to edit, but since all permanent circuits and ovals should be circuit, we only need to really edit the rally and road racing options.
WIP and about 75% complete, I'd say.

Hillclimbs technically could count as "city-to-city" but I've defined them as circuit. Do you agree?

Entries like these: http://the-fastlane.co.uk/cpdb/crashpho ... au-thierry got me confused :-D

Hillclimbs are more rally stages than city to city. I'd give them their own category though.

No, i think @hollie3sa is right. It is my bad wording once again.

Circuit: Means the location refers to the name of the venue
Stage: Means the location name refers to the name of a stage, e.g. in a rally
City/Town: Means the location name is the name of the town/city/village, not the overall venue name.

To me, your wording was clear. It was just that some entries said both for the same event and I wanted to make sure.
I wouldn't really know how to define circuit/stage (or how to phrase it correctly in English) but I guess a stage is a part of an event of which the accumulated times form the results.

There might be hillclimbs that add the seperate times as well but I think you get the idea.

EDIT:\\ All hillclimbs (prior: point-to-point) are now also labelled as such.

I suppose I should have called it "Venue" instead of "Circuit". Your stage definition is pretty accurate, yep. A rally stage obviously counts as 'Stage'. A long road race, which is broken up into defined sections, or legs, would also count as a stage.

Thanks for doing that! I guess we need to consolidate our records from time to time to make sure we are being consistent.

It was (and is) perfectly understandable

Another thing that needs to be done is to move the (mostly Rallying) co-driver to the "Also involved" field... Volunteers? :haha:

Whoops :haha:

I also found out that I (well, probably me, but if it was one of you then oops, but don't worry) deleted the "Historics" tag, so I need to go back in and fix all of those

Moved remaining "NASCAR Winston West Series" crashes to "NASCAR West Series" as part of removing sponsors from NASCAR series.

I was thinking...

Many entries (and photos) from the CPDB can't be viewed from Google.
I know you've made some changes to prevent hotlinking (and that's fine), but I'm seeing that many crashes that once could be found through Google, now can't.
For example:
https://www.google.it/search?q=rolf+rut ... 66&bih=654

Some time ago, our photos about this crash were the first results.
Now you can't see them anymore, and neither the CPDB entry.
If someone is looking for this crash, most probably won't find it.

Well... is this something that can be fixed?
I think the CPDB would be very useful if someone searched for an accident, and, seeing the pictures, clicked on them, then got redirected to the CPDB.

Hmm, you are right. I did not expect this side effect. The URLs for all of those images say the-fastlane.co.uk/cpdb. The ones hosted on Jesper's server will be unaffected. I need to add something to the script so the images will appear.

Maybe you could allow Google to see the entries?
Or something like that?

Exactly. Ban hotlinking everywhere except Google.

What do you think about adding another category to the CPdB entries for results? We already have one for the video so why not link it to the other sites where we get some crucial informations from?

Plus it also ensures the quality of the entries.

Although I like the idea, what happens when the results pages go offline?
