2021 R11: Nasville Big Machine Music City Grand Prix

#1

Post by MonteCristo »

Sorry folks, this isn't the thread for the Big Machine Spiked Coolers Grand Prix at IMS. Look elsewhere for your Big Machine Spiked Coolers Grand Prix fix.

Rather, it's time to get excited for the first ever run around Nasville. The race is on 6-8 August.

In race news...

We're looking set for a huge grid.

Everyone's favourite knockabout is back at RLL: https://racer.com/2021/07/20/ferrucci-s ... nashville/

Cody Ware is expected in the third Coyne entry: https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/m ... 313294001/

And as previously announced, four-time fence climber, three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves will be in a second Shank car: https://racer.com/2021/02/12/castroneve ... yer-shank/

27-28 cars in total!

Ah, the Nashville street circuit.

Or as it shall be known forevermore, "The Ladle".

Haha, yeah.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how this one goes. It could be very nice for a street circuit, but it's hard to tell scale often.

A lap is 3.4km, large for an Indycar street track imo. With the two long straits over the river it should make for interesting racing I think

If the road surface is slippery, even the right angle turns might provide a chance to get the odd run on somebody if a car ahead gets a bit loose on the gas.

But the big question in my mind is how wide it'll be.

Thanks, now I can’t unsee it, they have them here in Lidl and Poundland, real funny seeing people walk around the shop dragging the basket behind them because lifting it up and carrying it like normal is too much effort lol.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.

Early and late crashes brought a halt to the session, with the first belonging to AMSP’s Pato O’Ward, who clipped the inside barrier with his right-front wheel while powering onto the bridge. The contact fired the car towards the left of the circuit where the left-front and left-rear suspension assemblies were broken. Ed Carpenter Racing’s Conor Daly was next, which ended the session with four minutes left on the clock, as he locked the rear wheel under braking while trying to shed speed on his return to the city, and slid sideways into the tire barrier with the right side of the car.

Palou has been given a six spot grid penalty for Nashville because of an engine change:
