Lol Scott has torn the guards off the Mustang with all the shredded rubber.

He might as well, he probably won't be driving it next year.

SVG stops and picks up a Holden Flag. Nice touch.

And also allowed SVG to jump Whincup for 3rd in the Championship.

1. Scott Mac. 2576 Points
2. Cam Waters -451
3. SVG -481
4. Jamie Whincup -527
5. Chaz Mostert -618

Shell DJRTP also took out the Team Championship.

Always such a great race. A literal 1600km dogfight between #97 and #6. Well deserved by van Gisbergen, and especially by Holden.

SVG was certainly quick when he needed to be, drove intelligently all day, getting the lead with his hallmark damp track abilities on slicks, and once he got into the lead he just used his head. Unlike Whincup who made a rookie mistake, ironically when racing a relative rookie.

Actually I thought Brodie Kostecki drove really well, and had every right to fight Whincup for position. But that is another story.

Amusing to read Whincup's reasoning and excuses for his faux-pas..... from burning his tyres out on the lap and previous corner prior and trying to dice with Kostecki, and even blaming it on being unsure what or how hard Kostecki would battle him having never been in that position before.

Lame excuse I think, and the qualy error he made in the shootout is the reason he was put in that position in the first place. Even though after a good first stint from his part time co-driver CL, and a good stop, had the car up from 9th where JW qualified, to 5th when JW took over. To say he had cooked what were only 10 lap old hard tyres when he crashed is I believe, purely down to his poor tyre management.

He should know that whoever you are battling, where he tried to pass, on the outside where he did, is the one part of the track you are going to get marbles. However many laps he has done round the track, he must realise that is not a passing spot..... particularly 10 laps into your first stint with 120 laps to go. Piss poor effort from JW .

What was also amusing was his blaming the DNF on his losing 2nd place in the championship to Waters, even mentioning that 3rd in the championship on a year like this was pretty good.

I dont think at the time of his comments that he had realised not only did he throw second away but also gave 3rd tin the championship to SVG, and actually finished 4th, his worst result in many years I suspect.
(Checked, he came 5th in 2015, and before that it was 2006 he was last out of the top 2! (He has only ever been 3rd twice, in 2018 and 2019.)
