I'm still cautiously optimistic about this. It's the gameplay part that will set it apart from rF2, hopefully. Will check out reviews before I purchase for sure.
Less than three weeks from release now and there's not been any real updates since above. What do you reckon?
Does not bode very well, lol. The other big motorsport game this winter, EA WRC, had a huge marketing campaign, but I guess they want us to lower our expectations. That the game will first be in Early Access on Steam doesn't really mean anything, so that does not worry me. It is the lack of marketing that gives me the creeps.
The lack of marketing might be because they don't have anything marketable to show We got blurred images of the Ferrari interior and almost nothing of the other cars so I can only presume they weren't finished. And it seems some pretty important gameplay features like driver switching haven't been completed yet. But at least they are sticking to their release date.
Is it better to get a half finished game that takes 6 months to fix, and possibly alienates and gets awful reviews, or take criticism for delaying the release by 6 months, but releasing a product that's 99% complete?
I say 99% complete because since patches and downloads have existed I don't think there has been a single finished game from the a rated titles.

@DoubleFault Take criticism for delaying is better, IMO. Games like No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk 2077 got off to a REALLY bad start because they forced an unfinished product out the door. Maybe calling LMU "Early Access" at least saves some face if it turns out to be garbage.
Though now the latest video is out and it is looking pretty awesome:
Cyberpunk 2077 is exactly the game I was thinking of when I wrote that post. Also, the recent F1 games have been basically broken for a few days when they've released.
Gameplay looks pretty good on that video. If I had a PC then I would be looking to buy this.

Welp, it is basically rFactor 2 in a new package, so we know it will drive good and look good. It is the gameplay bit that needs to be good for me to buy it. I guess a lot of people will be streaming it, will make sure to take a look at that to build myself an opinion.

It's out on Early Access now. Been watching Jardier's stream for a bit, and it is as expected: rF2 Deluxe, with some minor lingering issues, mostly related to performance.
