Last.fm - The Social Music Revolution

I have been a member of this for many months now. Basically, you sign up to the site, download a special plug-in that goes with all the major Media Players and it will hold a record of all the songs you've played on your computer.
You can see your most popular artist, song, etc.
You can then embed some code into your MySpace.com space, website, forum, whatever
These are my stats:
Last 5 songs played:
Top 5 Artists Listened To This Week:
Top 5 Artists Overall:

I just use iTunes for this, much easier seeing as i play all my music on it anyway!

My question is, Why the hell would you want to bother keeping track of that? What purpose does that info serve?
